Join bestselling author Erica Jong for a discussion of writing novels, memoir and poetry.
Erica Jong will be teaching two courses:
-How to Write the Story of Your Life: Writing Workshop – 2 sessions
-Finding Your Own Creativity, with Erica Jong and Harold Koplewicz, MD.
A writer and a psychiatrist discuss the nature of the creative process.
Erica Jong is a poet, novelist and essayist best known for her nine best-selling novels: Fear of Flying, which has sold 30 million copies in forty languages, How to Save Your Own Life, Fanny: Being the True History of the Adventures of Fanny Hackabout-Jones, Parachutes & Kisses, Shylock's Daughter (formerly Serenissima), Any Woman's Blues, Inventing Memory, Sappho’s Leap and Fear of Dying. Her mid-life memoir Fear of Fifty also became a major international bestseller. Ms. Jong is also the author of seven award-winning collections of poetry. Her new collection, The World Begins with Yes will come out soon. She is also the author of five non-fiction books. Known for her commitment to women's rights, authors' rights and free expression, Ms. Jong is a frequent lecturer in the U.S. and abroad. She established a program for young writers at her alma mater, Barnard College: The Erica Mann Jong Writing Center. Erica was honored with the United Nations Award for Excellence in Literature. She has also received Poetry magazine's Bess Hokin Prize for her poetry, the Deauville Award for Literary Excellence in France, In Italy, the Sigmund Freud Award for Literature in Italy and the first Fernanda Pivano Prize for Literature in Italy. Her latest book is Fear of Dying. She is currently working on a movie based on Fear of Flying and a television series based on Fanny.
